Ty Dolla $ign and J. Cole’s “Purple Emoji” came just in time for romance to ensue this summer. Now, the Los Angeles rapper/singer unleashes the official music video, full of love, lust, and all the in between.

The 3-minute clip is directed by Olivia Rose, and begins with the disclaimer: “real people, real day 1’s.” Shortly after, it immediately cuts to real-life footage of couples living in Brooklyn. Intertwined throughout is Ty$ and J. Cole singing and rapping the track to the small screen.

In a press release, Rose states, “‘Purple Emoji’ instantly connected with me on an authentic level. it’s so amazing to hear that sort of vulnerability from artists who are talking about their day ones and a love that we can all relate to. I wanted to stay true to the lyrics and create a video that showed real couples, real friends, real siblings and the tiniest of actions of intimacy they share.”

The result is a visual that resonates with people from all walks of life, representing the full spectrum of love. Watch above and vibe out for the week ahead!
