Yung Pinch is Back 2 The Beach... literally. The Huntington Beach native has returned with his first album since his 2016 critically-acclaimed album 714ever. Aptly nicknamed the Beach Boy, real name Blake Sandoval reps Orange County down to his core in all facets of his life. The 22-year-old has created a cult-like following best known for his ability to both sing and rap, creating bangers for you to ride to in the whip down PCH. Now, he stops by Power 106 for an exclusive interview with DJ Felli Fel.

Speaking on the new album, Pinch reveals how difficult it was to choose the songs because of how many he had. He states, “We recorded most of everything out in Malibu. It was a long recording process, we just got in with a bunch of people. A lot of the stuff that really stuck and felt like it should be a part of this project is what we chose to run with. There was so many records to choose from, it was really hard. The vibe is a little different than the stuff before, it’s a little more guitar and live instruments in it. I have an acoustic song on there, stuff that’s out of the box. I’m really excited for people to hear it and see all the different lanes I could take my talent into.”

This includes pop/punk records such as “Hanging With Ghosts” featuring Good Charlotte, which has the childhood Pinch screaming. Another one is “Over It” featuring Wiz Khalifa, which he calls a dream come true. “Growing up in Orange Country, it’s Chuck Taylors and camo cargo shorts. That’s what everyone wore for so long, so just coming full circle with this album. Back 2 The Beach, that to me was the perfect fit.”

Pinch also reveals his love for real music, which stems from him riding around the car with his family when he was younger. From Blink 182 to Sublime, Pinch incorporates all genres into his music. It wasn’t until he started skateboarding that he started getting into boom-bap hip-hop such as Wu-Tang Clan. Watch above as he discusses his favorite things to do besides music, being the black sheep of the family, and why 2020 will be the best year of his life.
