After news that actress, Halle Bailey, was going to become the new Little Mermaid, many haters took to social media to express their “disappointment” by creating hashtag and top trending topic yesterday, #NotMyAriel, and “Make Ariel White Again.”

The backlash started after Global Times News tweeted, “R&B singer #HalleBailey will play the role of Ariel in a live-action version of #TheLittleMermaid, she said Wednesday. It’s a rare occasion when a colored actress will be cast as a Disney princess.”

Fortunately, the haters are too late! Casting for the new movie is already a done deal.

“After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,” Rob Marshall, who is set to direct the movie, said in a brief statement.

DAMN! Can we let sis BE GREAT!!?
