Allyn Releases Music Video For New Track “Choose Up”

Sacramento singer Allyn has released a video for her latest track “Choose Up.” The song showcases stellar vocals from the singer/songwriter, while also telling a story visually about a couple that doesn’t click anymore, leading her to move on to a better situation with someone else.

When discussing her new track, she talked about why it’s not necessary for someone to stay with a partner who isn’t treating the right.

Why not choose something better for yourself? When a person doesn’t treat you right, you have every right to go get something better, regardless of their feelings. So, I’m taking that phrase in hopes of encouraging and empowering someone to choose up and choose better,” she said.

The singer is also working on different projects currently and collaborating with a lot of different artists. She is currently working with her producers Dre Eazy and Kacey Khaliel, as well as Dom Kennedy on new music. Sevyn Streeter, Jeremih and Usher have also been major influences in her projects. Other artists also working with Allyn include JuneOnnaBeat, Payroll Giovanni, Kai Cash, Lil Duke and Dreamville’s Cozz, who will feature on her new project.

With the ever-changing sound of R&B, she says there’s room for new talent in the genre. Allyn states that R&B is currently in a “rebuilding process,” but that at the moment her favorite singers include: Jhene Aiko, Summer Walker, H.E.R., as well as singers from the 90’s.

Allyn went on to talk about the impact the Sacramento and the West coast has on her music.

Being from Sacramento taught me [to be] who I am and gave me the motivation to do what I do. I love where I’m from and represent the 916 every chance I get. I want to give people an inside look into our world. It’s important for me to represent Sacramento and the West coast because I want to show people a different side of West coast music,” she said.

I’m proud to be where I’m from and want to express that in my music. West coast artists have a distinct sound, just like how you can tell when someone is from the East coast or the South. As an artist from Sacramento and the West coast overall, I’m just trying to represent us and unite us all with feel-good music.
