A few of the public transportation organizations and shared rides corporations are giving voters free and/or discounted trips to the election polls today!

Companies such as Metro, Uber, Lyft and Lime, stated that they are offering these services and discounts to hopefully increase the participation number in the midterm elections.

The Secretary of State states that, more than 78 percent of qualified citizens are registered which will make this the highest number of voters being apart of the midterm general election since 1950.

Unfortunately, the turnout is still the same. In June, the state of California had the most turnout for a non-presidential primary in 20 years. However, there was still 63 percent of voters that did not have an election ballot.

Local officials reported a MTI survey stated that a portion of nonvoters in CA declared that transportation is a big reason why they do not visit the election polls. With that being said, because of these great offers, this reasoning should no longer be a recurring issue.

The transportation deals for today include:

1) Metro’s rail lines and buses will be free from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. today.

2) Uber offers $10 off of the rides with the code: VOTE2018.

3) Lyft offers 50 percent off on their rides.

4)Lime offers free 30-minute electric scooter rides with the code LIME2VOTE18

Do your part! Hit up one of these deals, catch a ride and VOTE!
