After Macklemore found out about Demi Lovato’s hospitalization that was caused by an alleged drug overdose, he decided that he wanted to make sure that Demi knew people are rooting for her.
During his performance in Mansfield, Massachusetts. he took time out of his show to dedicate his performance of his song “Otherside.”
“I do that song because if it wasn’t for my sobriety and my recovery, I wouldn’t be on this stage here tonight,” he said following his performance. “And I just want to send prayers and my thoughts and love out to Demi Lovato. I heard about that, and when we have this disease of addiction, that ties us addicts together and that’s my sister in recovery.” said Macklemore, who has not been private about his past drug addictions.
Macklemore also reinforced his fans about his struggles with addiction in which since he has now been sober. “I know what it’s like to slip. I know what it’s like to relapse. I’ve done it many, many times. That song is dedicated to her and anyone else going through it right now,” he said.
According to reports, Demi Lovato was discovered unconscious at her home which she was treated for and is now ‘awake and responding’ and is currently with her family at the hospital.
