Boston Celtic point guard Kyrie Irving will be out for the rest of the 2018 NBA Season as well as the playoffs due to surgery on his left knee.
Kyrie underwent surgery in 2015 to get two screws inserted in his knee, and this coming Saturday he will get them removed from his patella.
Irving celebrated his 26th birthday a few weeks ago on March 23rd and had surgery the day after to get a tension wire removed.
According to the Celtics, they say that the screws had caused a bacterial infection and had to be taken out immediately.
The team assured fans that Kyrie’s patella is good condition and that he is expected to make a full recovery in four to five months and will come back next season better than before.
It is extremely upsetting to hear about the news of Kyrie missing the rest of the season, possibly damaging the Celtics’ shot at the playoffs this year.
Kyrie put up an official statement on his Instagram earlier today which you can read below!
