On Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live the talk show host was accompanied by Katie Couric to his first colonoscopy appointment.
Kimmel celebrated his 50th birthday back in November, the recommended age for the procedure by The American Cancer Society.
Couric’s first husband died of colon cancer in 1998. She televised her own colonoscopy back in 2000 and says she feels a responsibility to inform people of the importance of getting screened at the correct times based on their demographic and background.
The scans came back clear of any issues for Kimmel. He is due to repeat the procedure in 10 years.
