Today (April 25th) is the one year anniversary of Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade,’ and in celebration of the album, Beyonce has started the Formation Scholars Award: A scholarship program aimed to empower young women to follow their dreams and passions.

The Formation Scholars Awards were created “to encourage and support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious, and confident.” Four scholarships will be awarded beginning the 2017-2018 school year to female students studying Literature, Music, African-American studies, or Arts. Currently, the Formation scholarship will be eligible to students at Berklee College of Music, Howard University, Parsons School of Design, and Spelman College.
