Amoeba Music has been a music landmark in Hollywood since 2001 and it looks like the legendary record store has been sold.  The Sunset Boulevard location has officially been sold to developers that want to build a skyscraper in its place.  Amoeba posted this tweet explaining the situation earlier today.

The purchase apparently went down in October of 2015 for $34 million.  Amoeba will remain open for the remaining years of its lease and there is a possibility that the store will have the opportunity to stay open longer if their building owner permits it.  Hopefully this 24,000 square foot music oasis will remain open so that we can enjoy digging through those crates a lot longer.
