Vic Mensa Involved In Altercation With Chicago Police

Police attempted to arrest Vic Mensa during the Bud Billiken parade in Chicago.

This parade is the “largest African American parade in the United States,” that celebrates the back-to-school season, and offers “back to school needs, job opportunities, workforce development, and of course food & fun,” according to the parades official website.

Rapper and Chicago native, Vic Mensa was this year’s Grand Marshall for the parade. He lead the parade while riding his motorcycle.

Vic Mensa wrote on his Instagram, “Chicago Police Department threatened to arrest me & tow my bike because I had a group of activists carrying a CONVICT JASON VAN DYKE banner.”

Nonetheless, the back to school parade was a success. 1,000 backpacks were given away. Vic Mensa later wrote again on Instagram after the incident with the CPD, “We do this so we can teach the next gen to be more equipped to dig themselves out of this hole they put us in & live with love power and self respect.”

I was the Grand Marshall of the Bud Billiken parade today (largest black parade in America). It was beautiful. Chicago Police Department threatened to arrest me & tow my bike because I had a group of activists carrying a CONVICT JASON VAN DYKE banner ‍♂️ Then we gave out 1000 backpacks to the kids THERES A LOT OF HATE BUT LOVE IS THE STRONGEST AMMO!

TBH it’s way more about this than that incident with police earlier. 1000 backpack giveaway with @att less than 30 minutes after being surrounded by CPD for protesting police murder in our city. We do this so we can teach the next gen to be more equipped to dig themselves out of this hole they put us in & live with love power and self respect
