Jay Z has just written and narrated a new short film criticizing the war on drugs and why it hasn’t worked. The short film is animated by Molly Crabapple and was released via New York Times.
The video starts in the 1970s and talks about issues like the crack epidemic, and how people of color were affected.
“The NYPD raided our Brooklyn neighborhoods while Manhattan bankers openly used coke without impunity. Drugs were bad, fried your brain, and drug dealers were monsters, the sole reason neighborhoods and major cities were failing. No one wanted to talk about Reaganomics and the ending of social safety nets,” Jay Z said.
