While the country witnessed a historical and pivotal moment in the nation’s current climate, as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris secured their seats as the next leaders of the free-nation, rap legend Notorious B.I.G. also made history by officially being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The late rapper’s children C.J. and T’yanna Wallace both accepted the award on their father’s behalf, as Biggie joins the shortlist of only six other hip-hop artists to be included into the prestigious and exclusive association. Sharing a reflective and thankful message to fans, Biggie’s daughter T’yanna explained, When my father passed away, I was only 3 years old. Even though I didn’t get to know him the way that I wanted, through his fans and our family, I was able to see with my own eyes that his music transcended the hip-hop industry. He was able to not just become the king of New York, but the king of the culture.”

T’yanna’s brother C.J. also spoke sharing his message, “Christopher George Latore Wallace, a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G., a.k.a. Biggie Smalls, a.k.a. Frank White, a.k.a. The King of New York. Our father was one of the founding fathers of hip-hop. He helped revolutionize what was a young art form for the Black community and the world. I’m honored to share his name and his dedication to Black music, creativity, self-expression and Black freedom.”

Check out their speeches below and may Biggie’s legacy continue to live on and inspire and transcend.
