This weekend Lil Wayne’s annual festival, Lil WeezYana Fest, took place. The lineup for the fest featured Lil Wayne himself, Travis Scott, Meek Mill, Meg The Stallion, Trey Songz and more.

The festival was plagued by a crowd stampede, which caused chaos at the event. Large portions of the audience estimated to include 15,000 people ran due to an unknown disturbance. There were rumors of there being gunfire or a fight but neither are confirmed.

The crowds overran fences, booths, and medical tents on both sides of the stage. Concession employees reported thefts of liquor bottles as well as tip jars and cash registers during the turmoil.

Local attorney Melanie Melasky who was attending the festival said, “My brother said to me and my cousin, ‘Run. Just run. I don’t know what’s happening. I turned around at one point to see what was happening, but everyone was running away.”

“I didn’t know what was going on,” said George Krider, an employee of Bev Inc., the catering company that operated the drink booths at Lil WeezyAna Fest. “It was a stampede. The first thing you think is, ‘Was it gunshots?’ I think it was a fight.”

Despite the chaos, the show continued. Following Meek Mill’s 30-minute set, rapper Travis Scott performed and Lil Wayne headlined the festival.
