While one of the HOTTEST songs of 2019, “Old Town Road,” which is already three-times platinum, unfortunately, has yet to go diamond. Yesterday, Lil Nas X tweeted, “OLD TOWN ROAD JUST WENT DIAMOND!!!! WTFFFFFF.”

However, the Recording Association of America (RIAA) denied his and the Chart Data’s claims that the song sold 10 million copies in the U.S.. To date, the song has sold over 3 million copies.

Chart Data has since clarified their mistake tweeting, “To clarify: Columbia’s twitter account posted a tweet celebrating “Old Town Road” going Diamond, which has since been deleted. @RIAA confirms the song is 3x Platinum. Occasionally mistakes happen.”

While still not certified diamond, nevertheless, the single is still holding up strong on Billboard Hot 100 Chart, reining as the No. 1 song for 13 consecutive weeks. This streak surpasses Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” the Black Eyed Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow,” and Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again” to claim the longest run at the top by a hip-hop song.
