Jussie Smollett speaks out about the racist and homophobic attack that occurred to him earlier last week.

In Smollett’s statement to ESSENCE, he thanks his supporters for their love and for always standing by him. He lets his fans know that he is recovering and is “OK.”

The Empire star said no matter how much trauma he endures, he will continue to lead with love because it’s all he knows. That’s right! As the late great Marvin Gaye once said, “Only love can conquer hate.”

His family also had something to say through Instagram and summed up most Smollett’s statement.

They said as a family they will continue to work for love, equality, and justice.

Smollett is working with authorities, making sure they get all the facts.

Despite some inaccuracies spreading around, Smollett said he still believes that justice will be served.

Sending all our love and support to Jussie and his fam!
