The BET Hip Hop Awards took place over the weekend and it is being reported that this year’s host, comedian DeRay Davis, made some comments and shaded Drake.
The funny man might have made some valid points as he pointed out that Drake gets nominated every year and at times leads the nominations, but he rarely attends.
Davis commented, “Every year, the Hip-Hop Awards honors Drake with nominations and every year Drake doesn’t come to the Hip Hop Awards. You could at least send your ghost writer or something!”
According the Billboard, Drake leads once again in nomination with 11 total, followed by Cardi B at 10 nominations. Notable mentions with multiple nominations include Childish Gambino, Travis Scott, and Kendrick Lamar. Last year, Cardi B took home the most awards with 5 total.
Some of Drake’s nominations are for Lyricist of the Year, MVP of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Collab. The BET Hip Hop Awards are slated to air Tuesday, October 16!
