2016 Recap With Yesi Ortiz

This year has been quite interesting and productive! There have been so many crazy events that have happened in this year alone! From surviving an election year to seeing many of our favorite people pass away, our friends are saying that this year could be one of the worst years in history. But, it was not all bad, we’re sure if you look back at the year you probably would find some amazing things that happened in your life.

Let’s end this 2016 on a positive note, and look back some of Yesi’s highlights from the year.

Big Baby D.R.A.M.

Before Power 106’s Cali Christmas Big Baby Dram made an appearance at our station to tell everyone how excited he was to be performing at our concert!

Yesi’s Toy Drive

This year with some of her friends, Yesi Ortiz, put together a Toy Drive that benefited children from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles! Yesi was able to raise a lot of funds for the children and so many people came out to support the cause!  

 

Anderson .Paak

One of the best artists of the year blessed the stage at Power 106’s Cali Christmas, and before he played the show he stopped in to show some love at the station. Anderson was just so amazing to meet and he was so down-to-earth. We can’t wait to see what he does in the many years to come!

 

Lyrica Anderson

It was so great to meet this power couple A1 and Lyrica! The couple came to the station for an interview and we had a blast with them! Lyrica even sang for our Power_106 Snapchat story! 

 

Wake Up and Vote

2016 was an election year and it was more important than ever for people to go out and vote! Yesi wasn’t the only one who felt that way, and some of her friends came to join in on the voting experience. Ty Dolla $ign, Eric Bellinger, Joe Moses, along with The Cruz Show all came out to support the cause. We talked about the cause on Power 106 and we invited listeners to come and meet us at the station to join us in the voting experience. Then, we all walked to the nearest polling place and casted our votes!

Yesi Ortiz was invited to go on GIRLBOSS Radio a podcast hosted by Sophia Amoruso (The founder of NastyGal.com)!

 

Filter Sessions

Snapchat really changed the game with their creative filters, and once in a while Disko Drew and Yesi Ortiz will test out the new filters that Snapchat has recently added. If you haven’t had a chance to check out some of our “Filter Sessions,” you can check out a sample below.

Power 106 All-Star Basketball Game

Every year Power 106 plays in a charity basketball game to raise funds for Homeboy Industries! The game is always a good time and if you missed it this year you don’t want to miss it in 2017! 

 

Being Included In The Latinos In Hip Hop Project

Yesi Ortiz was included in a special project documenting the influence that Latinos have made in the hip-hop culture. Our very own Yesi Ortiz was included in that project!

The Knowledge Is Power panel that happened this year on The Cruz Show was very necessary and timely. It was a very important conversation that needed to happen, and it was what the listeners need to hear at that time.
