Reflex Top 10 Volume 3

Posted By: Dj Reflex https://twitter.com/djreflex · 4/15/2013 3:46:00 PM

Power 106's own Reflex mixes his top 10 records for you to know for the week of April 15th.

1) Pusha T- "Numbers on the Board"

Pusha is a beast always and this uniquely open beat allows for his lyrics to breathe above the track.

2) Miguel feat. Kendrick Lamar - "How Many Drinks" (Remix)

Miguel recruits Kendrick for a nice collabo of 2012 breakthrough artists for his latest single.

3) Jay-Z  "Open Letter"

The G.O.A.T. clears his chest!!

4) Computer Ugly "Synth or Soul Sampler"

Fun, experimental and funky! Fun record!

5) Michael Jackson "Remember The Time" (Louis La Roche Remix)

Always interested in how remixers approach classics such as this, very cool groove fits in the pocket nicely!

6) Joywave feat. KOPPS "Tongues"

Expecting some cool remixes for this soon but fun tune for the summer.

7) Bondax "Gold" (Moon Boots Remix)

"Gold" is one of y favorite ...

Reflex Top 10 Vol. 2 for Jay-Z's "Life and Times"

Posted By: Dj Reflex https://twitter.com/djreflex · 4/8/2013 12:47:00 PM

I'm a tad all over the place this week musically. This week features a couple older records that I felt needed to be readdressed along with some awesome new tunes, enjoy!

1) Kid Cudi "Girls"

Cudi stopped by last week to see me and premiere his latest single "Girls". His new album "IndiCud" drops April 23rd and will not be released through GOOD Music. Not a first listen record for me but I appreciate it the more I listen to it.

2) Grandtheft X Trinidad James X DJ Snake "All Bird Everything"

A mash up of Trinidads anthem over a new Mad Decent tune catching on by DJ Snake entitled "Bird Machine". Grantheft manages to make hearing the "Pop The Molly" line still tolerable.

3) Kavinsky "Nightcall" (Breakbot Remix)

Breakbot manages to funk out the Kavinsky tune and reminds me why I like old Disco/Funk music so much.

4) Rhye ...

Reflex Top 10 Post for April 1st via Jay-Z's Life and Times

Posted By: Dj Reflex https://twitter.com/djreflex · 4/1/2013 12:44:00 PM

I've been wanting to make a weekly top 10 for a while now that is just a multi genre fun mix for people to enjoy and I really wanted to make it in a classic manner on two turntables recorded live. This is my first installment of my top 10.

1) Haim "Falling"

One of my favorite new bands, Haim keeps making fun quality music that has a huge buzz around town.

2) Daft Punk "Random Access Memories" (Dream Logic Remix/L'ordre Cover)

It's kind of dangerous territory to remix a Daft Punk record before the official single drops but this remix left the snippet that D.P. dropped on us pretty well intact and the L'ordre cover of it is pretty funky. Can't wait for this Daft Punk album.

3) Disclosure ft. AlunaGeorge "White Noise"

I'm really digging Disclosure's production and throwback mentality on the tracks. Here's another groovy tune.

DJ Reflex Live From The Austin Music Festival! Listen Now!

Posted By: Dj Reflex https://twitter.com/djreflex · 3/19/2013 1:57:00 PM

I love mixing spontaneously live without much of a plan except to play cool music. The Austin Music Festival is an awesome place to get loose with the genres in a set.

1. The Neighbourhood "Sweater Weather" (Little Daylight Remix)

I can't say I love this remix better then the OG but it does help allow be to play this awesome song at shows. The Neighbourhood's album "I'm Sorry" is a really awesome piece of work and they are out of Los Angeles which I love.

2. Grandtheft - "My House"

Grandtheft is a Canadian producer/dj and friend of mine that made a big splash with his Diplo collab remix of Calvin Harris's "Sweet Nothing". He's always got some great musical ideas. Here he has produced a club banger.

3. Rihanna "Stay" (Branchez Remix)

I first was troubled that anyone would try and remix such a powerful song but ...

I know TIP is a smart man and so I had to him if any newer artists inspire him. I guess I figured someone at his caliber only listened to other artists when people tell them to listen to other artists so I was curious if any current artists had made it to his Ipod.
