| Big Boy is the second youngest of seven children and
grew up in Los Angeles, California. After college, Big Boy hooked up
with the rap group Pharcyde and worked for them as a bodyguard. This
was an adventurous and enlightening experience to be on the road
touring with a hip hop group and further solidified Big’s interest and
experience in the hip hop music culture.
Ever
since Big Boy has worked at Power 106, he has dominated the ratings in
all of the timeslots he has occupied including nights, afternoons, and
now mornings. His radio show has continued to grow and is now airing
nationwide on ABC Radio Networks. The #1 rated morning show has led the
industry to recognize Big Boy by naming him Personality of the Year
four times from the Radio Music Awards and the same honor seven times
from Radio and Records magazine. The National Association of
Broadcasters has also recognized Big Boy’s exceptional talent with the
Marconi Award which is the “Oscars of Radio” a very rare three times in
2002, 2004 and 2007.
In the fall of
2003, Big Boy had the duodenal switch stomach surgery and over the next
year lost over 250 pounds. The billboards all over Los Angeles show the
new and thinner Big Boy and listeners still can’t believe the photos
are real, the effect is just that dramatic!!
Big
has made numerous cameos in movies such as Adam Sandler’s The Longest
Yard, Charlie’s Angels 2, and co-starred in Deuce Bigelow: Male Gigolo.
Big Boy has recently been the voice of MTV’s Yo Momma with Wilmer
Valderrama and also was a judge on MTV’s Celebrity Rap Superstar.
