Saturday night - Sunday morning from 2 a.m. - 4 a.m. spinning dance
music in all its forms. Not restricted by play lists and fueled by
the multitude of guest DJs POWER TOOLS (or PT) is the best at what
it does because of its freedom to play whatever the hosts want and
because it allows all of its guest DJs to play whatever they want.
Some guests that have graced POWER TOOLS with their musical choices
and mixing talents include: Little Louie Vega, Armand Van Helden,
Basement Jaxx, Daft Punk, DJ Swamp, Orbital, Eddie Amador, Mistress
Barbara, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, Keoki, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, John
Digweed, Josh Wink, DJ Heather, Juan Atkins, Jesse Saunders and the
list goes on and on....
Richard Humpty Vission has been a staple in the POWER 106 mixer line up for over 10 yrs.
In that time Vission has also traveled the world as a DJ, producer,
remixer and artist. As a part of the early techno group The Movement,
Vission traveled to Japan, Australia and South America laying the
seeds for today's global dance culture. Through his studio career
Vission has produced and remixed such artists as: Madonna, Destiny's
Child, Nelly Furtado, Rozalla, Adrenaline, Pure Sugar and Martha Wash,
to name just a very few. He is in constant demand as a headlining
DJ at most of America's leading rave and music festivals.
Swedish Egil is best known for being a dance~music visionary. In the
late 1980's he brought what would later be called 'electronica' to
the KROQ audience. Later he would manage the now legendary MARS FM
in the early 1990's, which to many helped launch the techno and house
boom in Los Angeles. He pioneered dance music video shows like GROOVE
TV and GROOVE TV INTERNATIONAL before MTV even looked at dance music
as a viable form of music. Today, Egil can beheard, again on the cutting
edge of TECHNO-logy, on www.grooveradio.com where he hosts and DJs
12 noon to 6 pm Monday thru Friday.
World wide respected DJs, producers, remixers and visionaries is not
all that POWER TOOLS is about. Every show has a HOMEGROWN segment
which features the latest works of Los Angeles based artists. Also
every week POWER TOOLS offers a COMMUNITY CALENDAR, that lets listeners
know what is going on in the underground and the dance music community.
Raul 'RCI ' Campos hosts these segments within PT in order to give
underground artists a voice and a channel from which to share their
sounds and events. RCI is a DJ and producer in his own right. You
can catch him once a week on college radio station 89.9 FM KCRW Saturday
nights from 9-1 lpm on his show 'Nocturna.' Or at his weekly Sunday
night chill spot INSPIRATION @ The Room in Santa Monica.
In the nearly ten years that PT has been with POWER 106, through all
the changes that have happened in the 'regular' hours, PT has been
consistent with spreading DJ culture and the art of DJing. Seeing
the image of the DJ grow to its current global proportions makes everyone
involved with PT very proud. But one thing they always remember is
it's not about the person(s) behind the mic, its not about the money
in their pockets or in the pockets of the artists they feature, its
not about trends and fads, its not about getting on MTV, its not about
"bling bling", the one thing PT has always been about is:
