Derek Fisher Says Final Farewell to Los Angeles
Derek Fisher came to Big Boy's Neighborhood to say his final farewell to LA. All of us here are huge Lakers fans so this was very special. Derek explained what he will miss about Los Angeles and also touched on the 10 year anniversary of his famous shot.
Derek Fisher talks about how it feels to leave the game and start coaching, also says he is excited to work with Phil Jackson, "Mine and Phils relationship is more genuine, we are thinking TOGETHER to build a team."
Derek brought some very memorable goodies for us, shoes from the time he spent playing on the Lakers, shorts and jerseys!
Big Boy asked if there is someone he could take to New York with him, he explained, "we are full, we are going in with who we have and ready to be contenders in the East. We will have more money and a strong team".
He shared his favorite locker room story from the Lakers, explaining there was a practice where Shaq didn't show up! The whole Lakers team was in the middle of the court, and they were waiting for him and Shaq came out in his "birthday suit" late as hell running onto the center of the court! HA!
He talked about the amount of pressure, intensity and focus on what it takes to be an NBA player, when they got on the court and how players would just get into the zone. One minute a player would be on the bench talking and laughing and they hit the court and BAM, like a super hero they get into the zone and completely dominate!
When asked who would be on his NBA Mount Rushmore of people he has played with he chose; Shaq, Kobe, Kevin Durant, Russel Westbrook
