At Wednesday night’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers, Lonzo Ball stepped out on the court wearing shoes that aren’t Big Baller Brand. Instead of his $495 ZO2 sneakers that he usually sports, he opted to wear a pair of “Purple Stardust” Nike Kobe A.D., which just came out earlier this month.
Surprisingly, LaVar Ball, Lonzo’s father and Big Baller Brand CEO, didn’t mind the switch. LaVar told ESPN that, “Lonzo is not forced to wear any brand and can play in any shoe he wants as long as it’s O.K. with the NBA” and continued, “This is what being independent is all about.”
Social media has been critical of the ZO2s ever since they were released. Even LeBron who was at the game took a jab at the NBA rookie on Instagram.

Lonzo says that ‘Mamba Mentality’ made him wear the Nikes instead of Big Baller Brand... Wearing a pair of Kobes is surely the way to go when you’re trying to channel that mindset.
